Hoppers, ProBox Stands, Bulk Bag Unloaders with Scale Supports
Surge hoppers, ProBox (seed box) Stands, and Bulk Bag Unloaders

Surge hoppers, ProBox stands, and bulk bag unloaders engineered to feed and support gross or net weigh bagging scales.

Bagging scale support structures provide storage and controlled product flow above a gross or net weigh bagging scale while supporting the weight of the product, scale, and feeding equipment. Configurations include surge hoppers, ProBox-style discharge stands, and bulk bag unloaders.

Each system is custom engineered for the application. Standard construction includes 3/16-inch hopper walls and heavy-duty tube steel framework with a 2-part epoxy finish. Mild steel, 304 stainless steel, and 316 stainless steel construction are available, along with multiple storage capacities and options such as operator access mezzanines, hopper lids, and level sensors.

Hoppers for Gross Weigh Bagging Scales

Surge hoppers store bulk product above a gross weigh bagging scale and provide a consistent supply of material to gravity gate, belt feeder, or twin auger feeder scale systems. Product flows from the hopper into the scale below, where it is weighed and discharged into open-mouth bags.

  • Available in 25, 37, 50, 70, and 87 cubic foot storage capacities
  • Mild steel or stainless steel hopper construction
  • 70 and 87 cubic foot models include forklift pockets for portability
  • 3/16-inch hopper walls with heavy-duty tube steel support framework and 2-part epoxy finish
  • Designed for gravity gate, belt feeder, or twin auger feeder bagging scales, depending on model
  • Operator access mezzanine with safety rails, toe guards, and ladder for maintenance and cleaning
  • Mild steel or stainless steel hopper lid
  • Stainless steel high and low fill level hopper sensors
  • Portable mild steel scale pedestal with locking casters for moving the scale between bins
  • Adjustable-height jack assembly or 2-foot inlet surge hopper for the portable scale pedestal
  • Larger hopper capacities or ProBox support frame configurations
  • Belt feeder or twin auger feeder support frame

Hoppers for Net Weigh Bagging Scales

Surge hoppers for net weigh bagging scales provide bulk product storage above the scale and are available for simplex, duplex, or triplex systems. Configurations are available for both large and small net weigh applications.

All models feature 3/16-inch hopper walls, heavy-duty tube steel support framework, and a 2-part epoxy finish.

Large Net Weigh Systems:

  • 50 cubic foot surge hopper, sized for a simplex scale
  • 100 cubic foot surge hopper, sized for a simplex or duplex scale
  • 200 cubic foot surge hopper with a bolt-on top hopper section, sized for a duplex or triplex scale
  • Mild steel construction standard, with stainless steel or stainless steel/food-grade finish options available
  • Larger systems are designed to hold twin heavy duty aggregate vibratory pan feeders

Small Net Weigh Systems:

  • Available in simplex, duplex, and triplex configurations
  • 37, 50, and 87 cubic foot surge hoppers; mild steel construction standard with stainless steel and food-grade stainless steel upgrade options
  • Gravity gate or vibratory feeder options for precise dosing into internal weigh hoppers
  • Operator access mezzanine with safety rails, toe guards, hinged access door, ladder, and provisions for scale-system wiring and operator controls
  • Mild steel or stainless steel hopper lid
  • Stainless steel high- and low-level paddle-type hopper sensors, installed

Bulk Bag Unloaders for Bagging Scales

Bulk bag unloaders discharge material from bulk bags, big bags, or Super Sacks® into a surge hopper feeding a gross weigh or net weigh bagging scale. A removable lifting cage supports the bulk bag from all four corners, while an access door allows the operator to untie the discharge spout and use an iris valve to control product flow. A gyrator can be cycled as needed to promote material flow and help fully empty the bag.

  • Removable bulk bag lifting cage with four-corner support and fork tube guides
  • Heavy-duty cradle assembly with 6-inch tube steel framework
  • Operator access platform with ladder
  • 37 cubic foot surge hopper with bulk bag support flange and hopper lid
  • Stainless steel construction available with continuous internal welds ground smooth and a food-grade #8 bead blast finish
  • Extended-frame configurations available for mounting an open mouth bagging machine below the unloader

For a complete repackaging system, the bulk bag unloader can feed an open mouth bagging machine mounted below on a portable, adjustable stand. An iris valve regulates product flow into the bagging scale, while a pneumatic bag clamp and two-position flow gate provide controlled, accurate filling.

One system configuration can fill open mouth paper bags with granular or powder products such as zeolite and guar gum at approximately 4-6 bags per minute. A bag shaker helps empty each bulk bag, while filled bags travel by conveyor through a pedestal-mounted sewing head before being stacked on a self-raising/lowering pallet loading station.
