This trash bag opening system opens bags containing municipal solid waste (MSW or household garbage).
A 60 cubic yard storage bunker, with a walking floor, feeds the waste into the bag opener. After the bags have been opened, the waste is then sorted and processed by other equipment in the recycling system. The final, sorted product is used to produce fuel pellets, or it is gasified as a part of a larger waste to energy system.
The bag opening system has a throughput of 240 cubic yards (40 tons) per hour. It can have up to a 95% opening efficiency.
