Single Stream Recycling Equipment

single stream recycling equipmentWe offer single stream recycling equipment that processes 8-10 tons per hour of single stream, commercial and office waste. This type of system provides smaller recycling centers, with a limited amount of single stream material, to also process commercial and office waste.

Our single stream recycling equipment can separate plastic, glass, aluminum, steel, tramp metal, fiber, corrugated cardboard or OCC, mixed paper including newspaper or ONP.  This system offers a low-cost, small footprint option while maintaining a high efficiency, separating all waste commodities into profitable material streams.

Flexibility

  • Small footprint ( 5,000 – 6,000 sq. ft .) and no pits required
  • Low height requirement and modular construction that allows for future expansion
  • Sort and separate single stream AND commercial / office waste with this same system
  • Average 8 – 10 tons per hour throughput
  • Low operational and maintenance cost with integration of ballistic separator

Single Stream Recycling Equipment:
Sorting Process & Material Flow

1. Load & Open Trash Bags

Incoming material is loaded into the automatic bag opener with a metering bunker. The bag opener provides a consistent feed to the single stream system while allowing the loader to be used for other functions.

2.  Remove Corrugated Cardboard (OCC) and Glass

For single stream sorting with large Corrugated Cardboard or OCC, or with a high percentage of glass, a double deck vibratory Finger-Screen or Paper Sort Ballistic Separator will accept material as it is discharged from the bag opener. The finger-screen removes the larger OCC and other objects while simultaneously removing broken glass. By removing the majority of broken glass up front, the system will have less wear and damage done to the downstream equipment.

3. Separate Mixed Paper (ONP), Metals, Plastics & Glass

The ballistic separator produces a 3 fraction separation on the incoming single stream. These sorted streams require minimal manual separation or optical sorting equipment to produce a high purity recyclable product that can be baled for shipment at this point.

4a.  Remove Metals & Plastics

Metals and plastics are separated from the stream by the ballistic separator and conveyed under an overhead, self-cleaning magnet to remove ferrous metals.  Next, plastics such as PET, HDPE Col, HDPE Nat are manually removed at picking stations and dropped into bunkers.  Then remaining trash is removed.  Non-ferrous metals such as aluminum are removed at the end of this line using an eddy current magnet.

4b.  Remove Mixed Paper

Mixed paper is conveyed up the ballistic separator and drops on a conveyor that moves the paper to picking stations.
